RE: Niche Forums and Blogs
In my area it can vary. It is entirely dependent on the weather rather than the equipment failing; though that has happened in the past.

I've never been in a power outage too long in the summer.

The longest I've been without power in the winter has been about 18 hours. In the winter, it is primarily ice storms that get us, and I've been lucky, this past winter for example, where the power only flickered here during the ice storm, but others in the same town were without power for up to 10 days. Some places in Western Kentucky were even worse with not having power restored for more than 30 days; though those were not a majority by any means.

Areas which are prone to hurricanes, Florida and Texas as well the Mississippi Gulf Coast, have particular concerns about power outages. One of the problems naturally is that the wealthy in those areas will, a higher percentage than other areas, have back-up generators, but others won't. People in the lower income brackets may be able to afford a generator that goes on sale, but affording the generator and being able to afford to run one are two different things.

One of my primary focuses is going to be on the economics of running generators, and alternative means for backup heating, cooling, and power which could be more affordable than a generator.

RE: Niche Forums and Blogs
A somewhat new blog for me will be a photography blog.

I have several articles which have been sitting on my other site, and can easily write about the subject; what I have been needing is a way to make use of my photography writings which could generate traffic.

I have registered the domain DigitalFilmCamera.com

I am going to update my articles, so they don't duplicate too much what I have on my other site, and use the wordpress plugin for search engine friendly URLs, which means I'm going with another hosting company with which I can do that.

RE: Niche Forums and Blogs
Just starting to get other blogs up and running. Not going to try to do it too fast as I don't want to either leave some sitting around doing nothing, or, equivalently, lose interest in one over another.

I have Movie Grindhouse up and running. Just a movie reviews blog for me. I already have quite a few movie reviews I can update for the blog, and work on some others as I get to them.

Movie reviews have become relatively easy for me to do, as I have been writing them for several years now on other sites, and on some of my own sites. I've always been fond of grindhouse type films, and am relatively fond of stating my opinion (utter shock), so this may be a good fit.

Cool! You may be interested in becoming a founder member of my new blog network that I hope to launch in the new year. It will include tools to help with the marketing of the blogs that you create and will involve a lot of automation to quickly and easily set up the blog and make money.
