Favorite Drinks
What are your favorite drinks?

I like almost anything such as beer, wine, green tea etc.

But here are some maybe unusual one's that I recommend:

Shōchū - this tastes like whiskey but is easier to drink in my opinion and best served on the rocks. It's great to drink in a small bar and share with new found friends. But make sure you buy the variety derived from sweet potatoes otherwise you can end up with some really bad tasting stuff.

Sake - rice wine that is great to drink from small cups piping hot, or when you get bored drinking it hot, have it cold.

Both of the above are what I discovered whilst living in Japan.

Recently I have developed a taste for Madeira - this to me tastes like a cross between Port and Chinzano Rosso. So it is a brown color and has a port plus burnt leaf effect in the taste. Very nice I think.

Today, I tried Obikwa Pinotage Red Wine from South Africa which seems very nice for a cheap wine.

Any recommendations from you? ...

RE: Favorite Drinks
I have always wanted to try sake.

My preferred alcoholic drink is beer, and I'm quite fond of dark lagers in particular.

Sam Adams Dark and Negra Modelo are my staples. I recently tried Sam Adams Blackberry Witbeer, and although it's not something I'd like to drink daily, I think it's fantastic.

When I'm in the mood for a hard drink or a straight shot, I enjoy Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey and Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum.

I drink a good deal of Coke, orange juice, and cranberry juice. Don't worry; I limit myself to one soda a day (if at all) for a pick-me-up in the afternoon. Wink

I love green tea, rootbeer and cream soda, although I drink them rarely.

Can't you get it in Florida (Menard: I mean the drink)?

You might find it a bit strange at first but it can grow on you. As a whiskey lover, I think you may like Shochu too but I think it will be more rare than Sake to find.

I should try the Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum sometime, that seems interesting.

For another cheap red wine, check out Casa Grande Cabernet Sauvignon (Chillian) - really nice and dirt cheap Icon_blaugh

Hmm... I dined at a Japanese restaurant once, but I did not take much notice of the menu (I was with someone who loved to eat Japanese, so he made all of my orders for me.)

I could probably find it in the grocery store if I looked for it. Certainly it must be needed for recipes.

It is hard to find anything out-of-the-ordinary in our grocery stores. Just a few weeks ago I spent 15+ minutes, assisted by a Sweetbay employee, trying to locate romano cheese. (Strangely enough, he had never heard of it. 'Turns out it was mixed in with the gourmet cheeses.)

I will be on the lookout for that one as well! Sounds nice.

I thought cannibalism was illegal...in Florida too.

Bad time for me to have been sober for 5 or 6 years.

When I did drink, it was primarily beer...and a hell of a lot of it.

One type that I enjoyed, when I could get it (both by availability and affordability) was Black and White; a mix of a dark and a light beer, combining the elements of both as it cannot be brewed that way.

I loved plain old Miller High Life, in its clear bottles, and cheap; but it didn't love me as it gave me headaches.

Anybody ever tried a White Russian? (I don't mean Denis)

Scotch and soda was a favorite. Of course, that would depend on the Scotch. I liked a cheap Scotch called Queen Anne.

Amaretto was a nice liqueur. So was Galianno...but damn expensive.

I eat Japanese regularly ... raw, grilled, boiled etc. Icon_lol

My parents and Grandparents used to always bring back liqueurs from holiday, I think many of them are still in their drinks cabinet. Most of them are way too sweet for my liking.

I didn't like beer as a teen since my dad bought very cheap canned beer which tasted bad to me, but one day I was given a pint of real ale while I was pruning roses at a pub (where I worked as a part-time gardener) and couldn't believe how good it tasted.

Am I presuming correctly that you would have the ale at room temperature? As opposed to the American habit of drinking it cold.

My father's beer was kind of the same experience: cheap and lousy. I remember how I always thought beer would taste good, considering how much the adults seemed to enjoy it, until I snuck one of my father's beers away, tried it, and wondered how anybody could drink that sewage.

I was never much of a beer drinker until I started living on the road as a photographer and my manager took me out for a pizza and a cold pitcher of beer. I started getting into a habit of wanting a cold beer at the end of the day, and that habit went a little far; when I would first arrive at a motel, the first thing I would ask was 'where's the ice machine?' so I could fill the sink in the room with ice to keep the beer chilled for the night.

RE: Favorite Drinks
Yeah I had a room temperature real ale.

Now in Japan, I drink the ice-cold lager-beers which I got used to. Kirin in the gold can is my favorite. In one bar, the lady vends the ale into a glass that is chilled to minus 20 celcious and then she fishes out ice from the beer. My American buddy loves chilled beer, I like it but moderate it by wine consumption :-)

RE: Favorite Drinks
Definitely, my favorite drinks are beer and wine. However, I much prepared with wine. I am drinking in a night time actually.

Hi guys,
My favourite soft drink is A&W root beer, followed by Coca-Cola.

My favourite alcoholic drink is something called a mexican martini.
